We recorded this during the afternoon at Tonic, the experimental music club on the Lower East Side where I was doing booking at the time. The night before we had made our live debut at Issue Project Room, as an opening act for Rhys Chatham’s Guitar Trio (which I also performed in). I knew Robert a bit from the Chicago scene, but had first heard him perform solo at Tonic some time before and thought we could come up with something interesting together. I’m playing a chord organ on the first track, but that’s an ebow through a couple of different harmonizer pedals on the third track, not an organ.
